Gökçe Uludoğan and Buse Giledereli Present Their Work at ISMB 2026

Our lab members Gökçe Uludoğan and Buse Giledereli presented their studies at ISMB 2026, the 34th Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology conference, held on July 12–16 in Washington, D.C. ISMB is the flagship meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology and one of the world’s leading conferences in bioinformatics and computational biology.

Gökçe Uludoğan presented “PUFFIN: Protein Unit Discovery with Functional Supervision,” which was accepted as a full conference paper and published in Bioinformatics, with Buse Giledereli, Prof. Elif Özkırımlı, and Prof. Arzucan Özgür. She also presented “STAR-GO: Improving Protein Function Prediction by Learning to Hierarchically Integrate Ontology-Informed Semantic Embeddings,” published in Bioinformatics and selected for a conference session highlighting notable recently published research, with Mehmet Efe Akça, Prof. Arzucan Özgür, and Assoc. Prof. İnci M. Baytaş.

Buse Giledereli presented “Benchmarking Recent Single-Cell Synthetic Data Generation Methods on the OneK1K Dataset,” conducted with Amirreza Sattarzadeh and Başar Temiz as part of their participation in the CAMDA 2026 Health Privacy Challenge.

Separately, the work of Ahmet Yiğit Doğan, Canberk Balcı, Ömer Coşkun, and Eren Kotar, “Two-Stage Pipeline for Differentially Private Synthetic RNA-seq Generation,” was selected for a short talk in the same challenge.
